Pet Bed ~ Christmas Project ~ Repurposed Drawer
Posted November 26, 2015
First of all Happy Thanksgiving! I had a little time in between cooking so I thought I'd add a little project for all of you pet owners out there. This project was super simple! I've taken a wooden drawer from a broken down dresser and repurposed it into a pet bed. I completed this project a couple of years ago so I don't have the step by step pictures so I'll number them instead.
1. Acquire an old drawer...basically any size will do and if your dog or cat won't fit you can always make it into their toy box instead.
2. Add little wooden ball feet onto the bottom of each corner by gluing them in place then securing them with screws. Don't have wooden feet? Then use anything you can find to give it a bit of elevation...wood blocks, cans, casters, etc.
3. I had a wooden applique that just happened to fit perfectly on the drawer front. If you have something like that you would glue in onto the front prior to painting.
4. Paint the drawer. I preferred the white distressed look but you can choose any color to match your decor.
5. Distress the entire piece...or not! It's entirely up to you!
7. I used E6000 glue to attach some rhinestone buttons just for a bit of bling. ....you can also paint your pet's name on the front if you choose.
8. Place an old pillow inside a pillow case and place it inside the drawer. The pink cover in the picture was purchased on eBay.
9.. The most important step!! Add the cutest little puppy in the world!!
